Egypt is a country located in the northeastern region of the continent of Africa. Rich with history going back to the earliest days of documented history, several variations of Egypt have played a key part in the history of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis in numerous alternate realities.
Egypt first appeared in the Evil Dead mythology in the 2004 comic Army of Darkness: Ashes 2 Ashes #3.
History
Earth-818793
In the reality known as Earth-818793, the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis was created in a sprawling underground tomb located in Egypt. In the early 21st Century, this reality's version of Ash Williams ventured to the tomb's ruins with the intent of destroying the Ex-Mortis once and for all.[1] Williams was ultimately (unknowingly) unsuccessful in his mission, and the Necronomicon crawled across the desert to the city of Cairo, where it infected the owner of S-Mart and was brought back to the United States.[2][3]
Not long after this incident, the Tomb of The Necronomicon would be visited by Dracula, who resurrected the recently deceased Evil Ash, recruiting him to help in his new undertaking of conquering New York City.[4]
It was later revealed that Ashley K. Williams and Deadbug had visited the Egypt of Earth-818793 circa 30 BC. While here, the captured Ashley was brought before Cleopatra after demonstrating her shapeshifting abilities, though Celopatra would ultimately be killed by an asp presented to her by Deadbug (under the guise of it being a gift from Mark Antony). Chased out of the city and into the nearby pyramids, Ashley and Deadbug discovered one of the pyramids contained a "nexus point", a place where they could traverse certain moments in time and space.[5]
"Amenta"
In another alternate reality, Ash Williams, along with Team Ash, was pulled back in time the ancient Egypt during the rule of Sheintawknes. Ash and his cohorts discovered that Sheintawknes' kingdom was under threat from the Deadites, and that they had arrived at a point in time when The Dark Ones were in the final stages of completing the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis.[6] Venturing into the Temple of The Deadites, Team Ash managed to destroy The Dark Ones and all but one page of the incomplete Ex-Mortis, saving Egypt from the terrors of the undead in the process.[7][8]
