Ash Williams is stopped by an Angel for carrying weapons into Heaven (Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #1)
Angels are benevolent celestial intermediaries between God and mortals on Earth, primarily working alongside "The All-Mighty" in Heaven.
Angels first appeared in the Evil Dead mythology in Marvel Zombies Vs. The Army of Darkness #1.
Powers & Abilities
- Flight: Due to the large white wings attached to their back, Angels are able to fly.
- Immortality: All Angels are immortal, including "Fallen Angels" (those who choose to leave Heaven). It's possible that other supernatural creatures and weaponry are able to harm them (as the Angel called Aron has implied), but this has not been seen.
- "Evil Sensitivity": Angels are able to sense evil (specifically an evil spirit) within an individual.
- Necromancy: Although it is unknown if it is a power exclusive to "Fallen Angels", Aron (of Earth-818793) created an army of undead Nazis to protect the city of Shangri-La.
Known Angels
- Aron (Earth-818793): Aron was a "Fallen Angel" who had willingly permanently exiled himself from Heaven, as he had fallen in love with a mortal woman named Xian (a warrior from the hidden city of Shangri-La living in the late 19th Century). While living among humanity, Aron became a member of The League of Light, both in it's 1890 incarnation and the 21st Century version.
- Ash Williams encountered an angel while in Heaven, before he was punched into Earth by an infected superhero known as The Sentry.
- While not actually Angels themselves, a group of monks summoned what they believed to be an army of Angels to aid them in fighting Evil Ash's army of Deadites in 1300 AD in the reality where Ash Williams teamed-up with Vampirella. These "Angels" were actually demons, but had fooled the monks by taking on Angel-like appearances.
